What is your Personality - SELF-IMAGE?
Our personality encompasses all our qualities as well as our faults. This makes each human being on the face of the earth unique.

For example: You’re a helpful person which is a desirable quality. However if you’re so helpful it makes you incapable of saying no! You let people walk all over you. This then becomes a weakness that can eventually ruin your career/life.

Another example: You’re open and direct with people. That maybe fine for you but the result of your insensitivity - you may be ignoring the way you make other people feel. Leaders often know how to put it across nicely in order not to hurt someone needlessly.

A self image is like a jigsaw puzzle!
Generally falls into three categories:

Body Language:
The image we have of our body and the signals we send to others through it.
Our body talk is always physical and visible - based on our judgement.
This is the primary influence on others about our self image.

Education/ Training:
We are all shaped to a greater extent by the education.
Stricter upbringing or suppressed/ intimidated by parents or teachers does develop a strong tendency to underestimate themselves their whole life long. This shapes up our self-image including our thinking and attitude towards the world and how we react to it.

Interpersonal Relationships:
We do spend a lot of time comparing ourselves to others, especially during the first at least 35 years of our lives.
Therefore, if you want to be successful and attract the love and friendship of others: don’t surround yourself with people who are depressed, defeatist, pessimistic, overly dependent,
or who complain all the time. Seek out the friendship of people who are positive, optimistic, happy and independent.

Picture yourself as a Person who is on a keen path towards Positive Change - Bip..

What is YOUR LEADERSHIP PERSONALITY? :
Many of our readers are in this Role and we often wonder what sort of Personality do I need? Or what are the Right Qualities or Strengths?

I have listed some Key Qualities of A Leader which should be useful:

Feeling POSITIVE about yourself:
Word of Caution! Feeling good about yourself doesn’t mean you have to look like a Bollywood Star.

Many famous people have succeeded despite their physical disabilities. e.g. President Roosevelt was an invalid; Apple Founder - Steve Jobs, Napoleon = short
Physical beauty has nothing to do with a Personality Power. Many of our Businesses or community’s most influential personalities have nothing physically attractive about them. 
We need to be mentally strong about we impress others in this world. We must believe in ourselves for the world to trust us. Therefore DO feel good about yourself and accept your physical qualities and defects if any.

Self Confidence and Assertiveness:
Overcome your Shyness and Become Confident to face others in whatever the situation.
Often the shyness prevents Leaders from communicating with others, from showing the rightful direction in Business, from meeting people with whom you believe you have something in common etc. People who are Successful Leaders have succeeded in overcoming their shyness and reluctance to open up to others when interacting.

At the same time - Leaders are not there to be liked - hence they must become Assertive - ability to say NO - when you have to. This is an art and needs to be mastered. It is important to remain calm, firm at the same time being honest, respectful and courteous to other person.

Modesty or Simplicity
'A-down-to-earth' type of personality is always admired and respected. Majority of Leaders nowadays are aware of this as it adds to their charisma. Ego or arrogance is always noticed and detested by others - specially subordinates, upper management, peers etc. In a group or public places, the leader ensures that he doesn't attract (look for) attention by boasting about their qualities or virtues. An Approachable Personality anytime.

Ability to Listen to others:
Give them the opportunity to reveal themselves to you. If you want to acquire a magnetic personality, learn to encourage other people to talk about themselves. Learn to 'Ask questions' about their work, their hobbies, their families and so on.

“People who talk about themselves are bores, people who talk about others are gossips, but those who talk about you are brilliant conversationalists!” As one famous person quoted. It’s so true in real life.

Ability to Act Decisively:
Be honest: do you admire people who can’t make up their minds, who always seem to be dragging their feet, and who have a pile of things they were supposed to do which they still haven’t gotten around to? No, of course not.

This means not procrastinating (not putting off for tomorrow what you can do today). Leaders should be neither careless, negligent, lazy nor passing the buck (blame). Decision making is crucial and needs to take proper action to show responsibility as a Leader.

Respect your commitments:
Very obvious but critical. You may be surprised to learn how many Leaders don’t honour their commitments.
People with Powerful Leadership can be always relied upon. In a customer-driven world commitments play a vital role for a leader to make it successful -Whether it's promise to deliver or attend or being punctual etc.
